The design to the right was final choice from the 6 designs by the client for the pair of finished windows. These will be made using various colours and textures of sheet and crushed glass, layered together and fused over several days.

Each of the 34 pieces of glass will be fitted into the replica timber frame to create the overall design measuring 1.2 meters wide by 2.6 meteres high.

Waves and Horses fused glass window design

We were approached by a client with a request to design and create a pair of windows for a listed converted chapel in the Chanel Islands. The brief was to design a window along the lines of rocks, pebbles and water with a colour scheme of muted blues, greys, greens, terracotta and burgundy, we came up with 6 designs shown above.
With the Chapel being a listed building the original windows could not be altered, so we came up with an idea to replicate the style and shape of the original frames, these frames will be fitted internaly in the recessed openening the original windows are fitted into.

Each of the pieces of glass were carefully laid out and starting at the base of the design, various grades and shades of crushed glass were laid over the base glass to create the design and texture of the sea, when the light shine s through this glass it casts a shimmering water like shadow on interior walls. The horses rising from the sea were created by layering several shades of coloured glass to create the desired effect.

The image to the right shows the windows installed into their new home.

They were installed 6 inches apart from the original insitu frames which allowed for 4 white LED lights installed at the base of the window to illuminate the glass at night creating a stunning effect.

The purple lighting on the surrounding wall was created from several further LED's situated in the room.
